ANNUAL STOCKHOLDERS' MEETING - February 14

Approximately 250 area farmer-stockholders and guests met at Darton College Student Center, Albany Georgia, to attend the Annual Stockholder's Meeting of Southwest Georgia Farm Credit on Tuesday, February 14, 2006.

Bobby J. Brooks, Chairman of the Board of Directors, presided over the meeting.  Charlie Burch, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors, gave the report of the directors and reported a very good year for the association while Richard S. Monson, President, delivered the 2005 financial reports and progress.  Robert L. Holden, Sr., gave a report from the AgFirst Farm Credit Bank Board of Directors.

The stockholders elected a 2007 Nominating Committee as well as the following member/borrowers to the Board of Directors:  Bobby J. Brooks, Edison; Clifford Dollar, Jr., Bainbridge; and T. E. Allen, III, Shellman. 

These gentlemen join the other directors: Charlie Burch, Newton; Alton H. Fendley, Jr., Bluffton; Robert L. Holden, Sr., Whigham; T. E. Moye, Jr., Newton; B.E. Powell, Buena Vista; Robert Moss, Plains; and Jeff Clark, Tallahassee, FL.

The association is part of the Farm Credit System and is a locally owned and controlled financial cooperative with 9 offices serving 21 counties in the southwest portion of Georgia.  Farm Credit serves rural communities with their financing needs through a variety of farm loan programs.  Residential mortgages are also available.
